Warren Gerow Discusses the Impact of Trade Wars with U.S. News & World Report
The U.S. and China are currently in the midst of a trade war. As trade war rhetoric shows no signs of slowing and the chances of tariffs on other countries are increasing, the stock market is becoming more and more volatile.
To learn more about the impact of trade wars, U.S. News & World Report spoke with Sightline Wealth Management Senior Investment Analyst Warren Gerow. In the article, Gerow explains that trade wars are very complex. While the globalization of manufacturing has caused it to be difficult to know the final impact, it is often the end consumer who feels the impacts the most.
“Cost pressures are going to be inflationary as [manufacturers] are going to have to find some substitute or replacement for goods,” says Gerow.
While technology, materials, industrials and other stock market sectors can be greatly affected by trade news with China, there are other sectors such as utilities, real estate and gold that are less affected by trade wars.
